Steps to make Sambar Idli:
- Chop tomatoes, green chillies and onions.
- Wash the toor dal, moong dal and add it to the cooker.
- Now add chopped green chillies and tomatoes.
- Then Add turmeric powder, hing, salt and water as needed and cook for two whistles.
- Once it is cooked, heat the oil in a pan. Add mustard, cumin and curry leaves.
- Then add chopped onions and saute well.
- Once the onion is sauted well, add the tamarind puree and jaggery and stir well. Then add the sambar powder and bring to a boil.
- Pour the boiled lentils into the pan and cook for 5 minutes in a medium heat.
- Place the idli in a serving vessel, pour the sambar on it and serve hot.
