  18. Prepare pinch Hing/asafoetida

  22. Get 2 medium chopped onion
  23. Get 1 chopped tomato
  24. Prepare 2 tsp crushed Ginger and Garlic

Instructions to make Rajasthani Dal Dhokli:
  1. Soak the dals for around 1 hour in hit water. Add 1 tbsp Ghee to the pressure cooker. Saute for few mins.Add the soaked dals to the pressure cooker. Add 4 cups of water. Add salt, turmeric powder and chopped tomatoes. - Allow it to come to boil.
  2. Add whole wheat flour, gram flour, salt, vegetable oil and all the dried spices in a bowl and mix well. Now add curd to it. - Knead the mixture to make a soft tight dough. Allow it to rest for 10 mins.
  3. Roll out the dough in thin cylindrical way. Cut them in small pieces. Gently press to flatten them. Create a thumb impression in between. Similarly make them all.
  4. Add these to the boiling dal gradually one by one. Be sure while dropping in the Dhoklis they do not stick to each other - Close the pressure cooker. Allow the dal to cook for around 3 to 4 whistles. - Allow the steam to pass by completely once ready. Gently open the lid and allow it cool down. - Give a gentle stir to dal.
  5. In a pan add ghee. - Once heated add jeera, rai, tejpatta, loung and hing. Saute for a few mins. - Add onion green chillies,ginger - Garlic saute well Then add tomatoes.Add whole red chilli and garam masala powder.
  6. Add this Tadka to the Dal dhokli. Mix it well. Let it cook for few minutes.
  7. Once well cooked, you may garnish it with coriander and drizzle lemon juice. Serve it hot.
