Instructions to make Tomato rasam:
  1. Pressure cook the tomatoes and Dal for 4-5 vissels over medium heat, add 2-3 glasses of water while pressure cooking. once the cooker cools down, puree the tomatoes using a hand blender.
  2. In a pan, take oil once the oil heats up add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing & curry leaves and Kashmiri red chillies, cook it for 20 seconds and then add the tomato dal puree.
  3. Cook the rasam on medium flame for 5-8 minutes till you get one boil, then add rasam powder, red chilli powder, tamarind pulp, salt and mix well. Cook it for another 10-12 minutes.
  4. Now add fresh coconut and chopped coriander, give it one more boil and then switch off the gas, serve with Idiyappam or wadas.
