  12. Take 4tbsp Tamarind juice – (adjust)
  13. Take 1/2tbsp Jaggery –(adjust)
  14. Use to taste Salt
  15. Use Water – approximately 1&1/2 litres
  16. Use For tempering :
  17. Prepare 1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
  18. Provide 1/2 tbsp Ghee
  19. You need 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
  20. Prepare 1/4 tsp Hing
Steps to make Rasam Vada:
  1. Wash well and cook both the lentils in 1/2 litre of water and keep it aside
  2. Boil remaining 1 litre of water and add in chopped tomato, slit green chillies, curry leaves, coriander leaves and coconut chunks and allow it to boil till tomatoes are little soft
  3. Now add in cooked lentil mixture, saarina pudi/rasam powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, tamarind juice, jaggery and salt and let it come to rolling boil
  4. Mean while prepare tempering using the ingredients under the heading “for tempering”, Once the lentil mixture is boiling well, remove from the heat and pour the prepared tempering over it
  5. The rasam/saaru for vada is ready to be used
  6. Now place the prepared vada/waday in a serving bowl and pour the saaru/rasam over it and let it sit for five minutes and then serve hot, relish the hot steaming yummy rasam waday/vada
