  3. Provide 1 & 1/2 bowl of water
  4. Get Seasoning :
  5. Get 4 tomatoes

  7. Prepare 1 onion
  8. Get 2 Green chilli
  9. Provide 2 tb sp cooking oil
  10. Provide 1 tsp cumin seeds
  11. You need 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  12. Use 1 tsp urad dhuli dal
  13. You need 1 tsp chana dal
  14. Get 4-6 cloves
  15. Take 1 piece cinnamom
  16. You need 4-6 black pepper seeds
  17. Use 10-15 cashew nuts
  18. Get 8-10 curry leaves
  19. Provide 1/2 bowl peas(optional)
  20. You need 1/8 tsp asafoetida
  21. Use To taste salt
  22. Take 1/4 tsp red chilli
  23. Use 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  24. Take 1/4 tsp pulav masala
Instructions to make Thakkali Sadam:
  1. Wash peel and chop onion. Grate tomatoes and ginger. Keep all ingredients ready.
  2. Wash rice 2-3 times and put in a pressure cooker. Add water. Pressure cook till 1 whistle and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a wok. Add asafoetida, cumin seeds and mustard seeds and when cumin seeds splutter add urad and chana dal and saute for 1 minute. Now add chopped onion and ginger and saute for 1 minute on low flame. Add cashew, cloves, cinnamom and black pepper seeds and fry all till onion turn translucent.
  4. When onion turn pinkish add peas, curry leaves and green chilli cover the lid and saute till peas get soft.
  5. Add gated Tomato and cook for 5 minutes on low flame. Add salt turmeric powder and red chilli powder and mix.
  6. When oil starts leaving the sides add boiled rice and mix thoroughly. Cover the lid and cook for 5 minutes on low flame. Switch off the flame.
  7. Serve hot with pickle and salad.
